What is the Architects Registration Council (ARC)?


The Architects Registration Council (ARC) is the statutory body for the regulation and promotion of architectural practice in Ghana. It was established in 1969 by the enactment into law, of the Architects Act, NLCD 357 to:

  • be concerned with the architectural profession in Ghana
  • secure the highest practicable standards in the practice of architecture
  • prescribe or approve courses of study for the qualifying examinations for registration as a registered architect
  • develop standards for the qualifying examinations for registration as a registered architect
  • conduct the qualifying examinations for registration as a registered architect
  • maintain and publish a register of architects
  • prescribe and uphold standards of professional conduct and ethics, and
  • control the practice of architecture
